Executive Director, Diamond Development Initiative
Dorothée Gizenga is Executive Director of the Diamond Development Initiative (DDI), which addresses the development issues related to artisanal and small scale mining (ASM).
Dorothée is an expert on ASM, and in her work in DDI has included overseeing the provision of technical assistance for Kimberley Process countries and the implementation of formalization programmes in the DRC. Dorothée frequently provides advice to governments and industry on ASM, and, under her tenure, DDI developed the first and only standards for artisanal diamond production. In 2003, Dorothée worked at Partnership Africa Canada where she was responsible for supporting the implementation of projects related to the Kimberley Process, the International Conference for Peace in the Great Lakes Region, and the prevention of violence against women in conflict zones.
Dorothée has also held positions with the provincial government of Ontario and Government of Canada.
